Who we are

Who we are:

RAAG is a not-for-profit voluntary organisation passionate about the adoption (the transfer from private to public ownership) of unadopted roads.

We formed this support group after we successfully forced the council to adopt our road. We contacted and lobbied our MP to ensure the council stopped fobbing us off and eventually adopted our highway, after almost 10 years of living on an unsafe and unmaintained road.

We have created RAAG to provide help, support and give advice to others who live on housing estates where the sewers, roads or public open spaces have not been adopted to achieve the same.

Who we are

What we do:

We believe that the greatest launch pad to provoking activity is undoubtedly People Power. We have formed this support group to harness People Power.

We have a proven track record of helping frustrated residents to achieve adoption of their highway and sewers, providing support, assistance, and vital knowledge we have learned through experience.

We will help you to contact your MP to ensure our councils fulfil their obligation to adopt your highway.

Who we are

Why we do what we do:

Local councils are not motivated to fulfil their obligation to adopt.

They already receive 100% of the council tax, even though they are not maintaining your road.

Local water companies are guilty of not exercising their rights and powers as they too already receive 100% of the water rates from you for the sewer system you use that they don’t yet own.

This needs to change.

Who we are

What we have achieved:

We have already brought about the adoption of many roads.

We have brought a number of Local Authorities to book via the courts.

RAAG campaigned with the BBC consumer rights programme, Rip Off Britain, on an unadopted road case.

What should I do?
